President Hu Jintao addressed the UN climate change summit saying the international community should tackle global climate change through common development. Let's look at some of the main points of President Hu's speech.

President Hu highlights four principles to be followed in the world's common endeavor to tackle climate change.

First, fulfilling respective responsibilities should be at the core of the effort;

Second, achieving mutual benefit and a win-win outcome should be the goal of the effort;

Third, promoting common development should be the basis of the effort;

And fourth, ensuring financing and technology holds the key to the success of the effort.

President Hu also says China has taken determined and practical steps to tackle this challenge. He announced four measures that China will adopt to further integrate actions on climate change into its economic and social development plan. The four measures are intensifying the effort to conserve and improve energy efficiency, to develop renewable and nuclear energy, to increase forest carbon sink and step up efforts to develop a green, low-carbon, and circular economy.
