Photo: Top Chinese leaders visit exhibition showcasing New China's achievements
President Hu Jintao and other Chinese leaders have visited an exhibition showcasing the achievements New China has made in the past six decades.
The exhibition was unveiled to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
While visiting the exhibition, the leaders applauded economic, political, cultural and social achievements made since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
They say significant progress has been made particularly since the adoption of the reform and opening-up policy 30 years ago.
The themed exhibition---"historical process, great achievements and bright future" opened on Saturday. It details the steps the Communist Party has made to unite people of all ethnic groups in the course of developing socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The exhibition shows how China's comprehensive national strength has been enhanced over 60 years. It explains how people's lives have undergone fundamental changes, and the country's international status has been greatly raised.
President Hu Jintao pointed out China is still a developing country and faces many challenges ahead. He called on people across the country to work together to build a prosperous society and to realize the rejuvenation of the whole Chinese nation.
Former President Jiang Zemin, praised people's hard-working spirit and expressed hope for the future.
The exhibition is being held at the Beijing Exhibition Center until October 20th.
