Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davu-to-glou, arrived in neighboring Iran on Saturday for a meeting with Iranian leaders. Iran's Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, said he welcomed talks with world powers on his country's nuclear program.
On Wednesday, Iran presented the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, plus Germany, with a proposal to hold talks on a range of security issues, including global nuclear disarmament.
Iran's foreign minister acknowledged comments made by the Council regarding the new proposals.
Manouchehr Mottaki, said, "These comments acknowledge the existence in this package of essential points for a constructive and serious dialogue. They could be the basis for negotiations."
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglou said his country must be involved in resolving Iran's nuclear issue, as Turkey is an important regional stake-holder.
