Medical experts say it's still too early to know if victims of recent syringe attacks in Urumqi have contracted any diseases related to radioactive substances, anthrax, or toxic chemicals.

The Director of the Disease Control & Biological Security Office at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Qian Jun, says the incubation period for such diseases ranges from several months to HALF a year.

Qian and other experts have examined more than 200 victims' medical records. So far, he says, there is no evidence any have contracted diseases.

The experts say further tests are underway and they are giving some victims psychological counseling.

Urumqi prosecutors say they have formally arrested four syringe attackers and four others have been referred to criminal prosecution.
