Iran lifted a ban on UN inspectors and allowed them to access one of its nuclear reactors. Iran has also granted greater monitoring rights at another nuclear site.

Diplomats say inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency visited the nearly completed Arak heavy water reactor last week. This reactor will produce material for nuclear fuel, which the West says could be further enriched to provide fissile material for nuclear weapons. The IAEA has been pushing Tehran to give it access to the Arak site, to verify the fuel is being used for peaceful purposes.
