Brazilian pilot Kindlemann crashes in air race

Brazilian pilot Adilson Kindlemann suffered only minor injuries after crashing his plane during a training run for the Red Bull Air Race World Championship racein Perth, Australia on Thursday.

Adilson Kindlemann's preparations for the Air Race took a decidely downward turn as his plane smashed into the waters of the Swan River. Approaching gate three in the middle of the race track, the Brazilian's MXS-R race plane hit the water with his wings level and tail frist. The emergency reponse teams who assist the race organisers were quickly on hand - pulling Kindlemann out of his upturned craft. The 36-year old was immediately taken to hospital. But, thankfully no serious damage was done. Race organisers were quick to stress their preparedness in case of such an event.

Adilson Kindlemann who suffers minor injuries in crash, says, "I feel good. I laugh, I feel alive. It's good."

Bernd Loidl, the CEO Red Bull Air Race, says, "Our number one priority is safety and thanks to the amazing efforts of our specialists in the emergency response team, Kindlemann was rescued in less than one minute and I am pleased to confirm that Kindlemann is in good health having only suffered minor injuries. As a precautionary measure, he will be held in the Royal Perth Hospital overnight."
