Eto'o goal helps Inter knock Chelsea out

Italian football giant Inter Milan is on the march in the Champions League. Coach Jose Mourinho enjoyed a triumphant return to Stamford Bridge behind a 1-0 win at his former side Chelsea on Tuesday. The Italians go on to the Champions League quarter-finals. Chelsea is out.

Inter held a slim aggregate lead after the first leg and opened with solid defending. Centre backs Lucio and Walter Samuel ensured a goalless first half.

The Italians began to pile on the pressure midway through the second half. Wesley Sneijer knocked a backheel pass to Goran Pandev, but Pandev was stopped by a terrific tackle by Yuri Zhirkov.

Four minutes later Inter's Diego Milito had to only beat stand-in Chelsea keeper Ross Turnbull but he shot it just wide, and the match remained scoreless.

Thiago Motta headed over the bar from a free kick and Chelsea still had a shot to level the aggregate scoreline.

But the chance didn't last long Sneijder looped a ball over the Chelsea defence. Eto'o did the rest. He drove the ball past Turnbull and scored the only goal of the game.

Chelsea was reduced to 10 men by a late red card for Didier Drogba after a clash with Motta. The Serie A side went through 3-1 on aggregate, and ousted Chelsea from the Champions League tournament.
