Special Report: 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games |
Nick: Time now for me to bring in my colleague Jonas Gilbart to talk about some of the action from the day in a little more detail and Jonas, we'll start with China's womens curling team and the end of their gold medal hopes in Vancouver.
Jonas: The defending world championship rink, skipped by Wang Bingyu will play for the bronze tomorrow after getting handled quite easily by Sweden, 9-3 in the semi-finals.
Sweden jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game with a single in the first, steals in the 2nd and 3rd ends but in the fifth end is where things really turned around for China.
After getting to within two, Swedish skip Annette Norberg, the defending world champion was able to pick up three in the fifth to lead 6-1 and after that it was pretty much curtains for the Chinese.
In the women's figure skating final, Kim Yu-na produced a riveting free skate to become the first South Korean to win an Olympic figure skating gold medal. |
