The Chinese women's curling team who are reigning world champions are through to the semifinals after a narrow victory over USA in their final game of the round-robin group stage at the Winter Olympics.

In the first end, skipper Wang Bingyu's penultimate shot ended with a spectacular double take-out, which could earn China two points. However, Wang committed an error. And China had to collect one point in this end. And the game was a seesaw battle as both sides traded leads. But the defending world champions held their nerve and in the final end, hot-hand Wang executed a winning shot for a pinpoint take-out. Eventually, China won the game 6-5.

With 6 wins 3 losses China advanced to the semis, where they face Sweden for a place in the final. Zhou Yan, Chinese Women's Curling Team First, said, "At our preparation meeting, we decided to concentrate on our own performance without thinking too much. We weren't too concerned about wining or losing the game. We just did our best."
