Toronto is located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. The famous Niagara Falls is straddling the international border between Ontario and the US state of New York. The Falls are renowned both for their beauty and as a valuable source of hydroelectric power.

As Canada's economic hub, Toronto is considered one of the top financial centers in the world. Its leading economic sectors include finance, telecommunications, media, film, tourism, sports and some other industries. Because of the city's low crime rates, clean environment, high standard of living, and friendly attitude to diversity, Toronto is consistently rated as one of the world's most livable cities by the Mercer Quality of Living Survey.
