Bai Xue dominates women's 10,000M race

Athletics began its final day of track and field competition and featured some thrilling battles on Monday.

First we look in on the women's 10-thousand meter long-distance race, Bai Xue won the marathon at the World Championships in Berlin, and she stormed to the front on the sports center stadium track.

The 20-year-old Bai overtook the tiring front-runners halfway, and ran alone and unchallenged during the last six laps.

She did not slow her pace during those final laps, and even increased her lead over the second group of trailing runners, crossing the line first in 31 minutes and 17.62 seconds.

Bai Xue said she was happy with the result. She made history in Berlin as the first Chinese to win a marathon race in the world championships. She also put an end to Chinese women's gold medal drought at the worlds that lasted for 10 long years.

Zhu Yingying of Jiangsu finished second in 31:44.28, and Jia Chaofeng of Gansu stood third.
