Lu Minjia wins women's long jump

Liaoning's Yao Jiajia finished with 6.43 meters.

Before the competition, Anhui's Chen Yaling's record of 6.57 meters was the best of this year for Chinese athletes. Chen is China's top athlete in women's long jump: won the Asian Indoor championships held in Dohar. Chen finished with 6.58 meters.

But the day belonged to Lu Minjia from Zhejiang Province. The 17-year-old edged her rivals with a distance of 6.74 meters. Lu produced a series of spectacular performances this year: won the National Grand Prix in June; won the world junior championship in July.
