Liu Feiliang added a gold to the medal tally for the hosts Shandong, jumping a height of 5.60 meters in the men's pole vault. The silver medal went to Shanghai's Yang Quan, and Liu Feiliang's teammate Yang Yansheng won the bronze with a 5.50 meter jump.

And, Li Yanfeng, from Heilongjiang province, produced a world championship distance in the women's discus with a throw of 66.4 meters, 0.96 meters more than Australian Dani Samuels's mark at the Berlin worlds.

The discus thrower said she had expected the title for a long time as injury had affected her attendance. She didn't take part in the last edition of the national games in 2005 due to injury.

She also got injured early this year, but luckily recovered well after being treated by a good doctor. She was so happy to take the championship, and has waited for this day for four years.
