Li Ruicai defends 96kg title

Men's 96 kilograms category in freestyle wrestling, Li Ruicai from the PLA took on Wang Yuanyuan. Both of them are veterans and Shandong natives.  Being friends off the mat, they knew each other's strategies very well.

Li Ruicai held his opponent's legs to notch the first point. Li Ruicai pushed his opponent down to take the lead.

Li ended in fourth place back in the 1994 Hiroshima Asian Games in Japan. China doesn't have many talented young athletes in heavier categories, there are still more veterans now in heavy categories.

Wang Yuanyuan pulled back one precious point by pushing Li Ruicai out of the sideline. But Wang still lost the first round.

Li Ruicai regained the lead in the second round. Leading 1-0, he pushed Wang out of the sideline to seal the gold with a straight victory.

Li Ruicai successfully defends his title in the national games.
