Dark horse Hou Kai beats Olympic champions

Olympic champions toppled one by one in the men's 50 meters rifle. Athens Olympic champion Jia Zhanbo just finished fifth in the finals after Beijing Olympic gold medalist Qiu Jian failed to qualify for the finals.

Another Athens Olympic champion Zhu Qinan finished third after a poor 8-point last target in an intense encounter against little known Hou Kai from Heilongjiang.

Doha Asian Games champion Liu Gang took a silver for Guangdong with 1288.4 points.

Hou Kai was the dark horse on Wednesday. He upset the three Olympic champions and an Asian champion to take the gold medal for Heilongjiang with 1269.9 points.
