Sculls racer Zhang Xiuyun retires after winning gold

A rowing contestant in the National Games is leaving her sport on top 2000m women's singles sculls racer Zhang Xiuyun of Anhui won a gold medal and decided to end her athletic career.

Zhang Xiuyun said, "This 2000m competition in Shandong national Games is where my career will come to a full stop. I think it's perfect, very perfect."

Zhang Xiuyun won 3 golds in previous National Games. She proved that she was still strong and overpowered her opponents to take her fourth National Games title with a time of 7 minutes 34.98 seconds.

The Zhejiang team took the lead all the way to take the gold in the women's 2000m quadruple sculls final, setting a time of 6 minutes 33.69 seconds. Two of their athletes won gold in 2000m double sculls on Monday.

Liaoning's team met the challenge from two strong rivals to win a gold medal in the men's lightweight coxless four. Guangdong and Jiangsu finished behind Liaoning in the final.
