Wang Weiyi hits gold in men's 50m prone rifle

The men's 50 meter prone rifle unleased bigger shocks. Olympic champions Qiu Jian, Jia Zhanbo and Zhu Qinan all failed to qualify for the final. Spectators saw a close contest between the P-L-A's Wang Weiyi, Hebei's Lv Liangliang and Kang Hongwei from Zhejiang. P-L-A shooter Wang showed steady nerve. He hit 8 shots for scores above 10 points. Wang took on Lv Liangliang in the final round. Wang only hit 9.8 points.

But Hebei's Lv, did his best on his last shot. He racked up a 10.7, a spectacular performance that brought big cheers from the crowd. Lv finally finished a total of 698.3 points.

The gold medal went to Wang Weiyi. He collected a total of 701.5 points. The P-L-A shooter won his first gold medal. Zhejiang's Kang Hongwei took the bronze with a total of 698.1 points.
