Here's a new idea to get everyday people into the game. China's State General Administration of Sport issued "Fitness For All" guidelines Monday. The plan aims to promote sports among more people nationwide.

The guidelines are the first of their kind, and are composed of 6 chapters and 40 items. The fundamental goal of the road map to fitness is to encourage more people to take up sports, with the help of various organizations.

Liu Peng, State General Admin. of Sport Pres., said, "The first work that must be done is to study and publicize the guidelines, to get more people to know them. Governments at all levels, various social organizations, enterprises and other institutions must know their obligations under the guidelines."

The plan calls for building more public sports facilities, especially in schools, communities and rural areas.

Wei Hongxia, Policy & Regulation Depart. Director, SGAS, said, "I think the biggest benefit to people is the access to more sports facilities, which are fundamental for people to take up sports. We'll provide more facilities. "

School facilities, which amount to over 60 percent of all sports locations in China, will be open to the public for the first time under the new guidelines.
