2010-04-21 13:28 BJT

Many European planes have returned to the skies for the first time in days but the travel chaos is not over. Many airports are still closed with a massive flight backlog growing.

Britain has sent a navy ship to Santander in Spain. It's collecting 500 troops coming home from Afghanistan and picking up hundreds of civilian passengers stranded by the chaos.

The British embassy in Madrid is also organizing buses from the airport to transfer UK travellers to France.
