Polish plane to impact politics

Kaczynski is the first Polish president to die while in office. Besides the president, the chief of the country's military, deputy foreign minister and central bank governor were also on board the doomed flight. Polish media is claiming the accident will strongly affect the country's politics.

Local media have been focusing on the tragic nature of the accident, describing it as a national disaster. Many of the victims were outstanding Polish citizens. Their deaths have left a large hole in society, that will likely have an impact on the country's development.

Secondly, Poland was to hold a presidential election this October. But two candidates died in the accident, including Kaczynski. Poland says it will now hold an early presidential election. The election date will be announced by the acting president within two weeks, with the vote taking take place within two months of the announcement.
