Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is calling for calm amid the unrest. He also stresses that Russia is not involved in the Kyrgyz riots.

Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister, said, "No matter what is going on there, it's a domestic issue for Kyrgyzstan. The only thing I would ask is that the authorities and opposition show restraint and refrain from violence. Especially if it's related to the authorities, because the officials have the law enforcement forces in their hands. I hope they will be reasonable and operate within the frame of the current legislation."

Russian President Demitry Medvedev also expressed concern, and urged Kyrgyzstan to end the violence. He says the most important is to prevent further deaths and restore control over the country.
