The sandstorm is indeed making life more difficult. Visibility is limited to just a few hundred meters, and the whole city is covered with a blanket of dust. Experts say it is better to spend this weekend indoors.
The severe sandstorm that plagued northwestern China in the past few weeks arrived in Beijing Friday night, packing strong winds and tons of sand.
Many Beijingers were shocked by what they saw.
A Beijing resident said, "When I woke up this morning, I couldn't believe that the sandstorm was so heavy. Look at the sky, the dust is flying overhead."
