OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria says Greece deserves to be supported by the rest of Europe, and is optimistic the country will come through the current financial crisis.

The comments come as EU leaders and finance ministers meet in Brussels to discuss the possibility of providing loan guarantees or bilateral loans to help Athens finance its debts if needed.
OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria said, "If there is a need for some support, some financing, then of course Greece has many assets that it could use. But my only point is if you have an institution like the IMF, which is yours, Greece is a shareholder, which is there to help you, then why not? Or at least why not consider it as part of the solution."
