Special Report: 2010 Spring Festival |
Saturday is the first working day after the week-long Spring Festival Holiday. And many people were able to return to work on time thanks to the efforts of road, rail, and air transport sectors.
Railway stations across China saw a huge passenger volume on Friday.
Reducing the ticket-checking time was one of the best ways to ensure passengers boarded trains on time.
Here in Chongqing, the railway station set up temporary waiting areas according to the departure time. It also increased ticket counters to 70, and only took seconds to check each ticket.
Adding temporary trains was another measure to ease the pressure. Train stations in other big cities were also gearing up for the travel peak.
Road transportation was a popular choice for many who made relatively short trips.
Some stations opened hotlines and increased counters to ensure passengers got tickets.
Security measures were strengthened to ensure order. And some special services warmed the hearts of passengers.
Huo Zhiwei, Taiyuan Long-distance Bus Station, said, "Our station has a team to provide special services to the elderly, the sick, the handicapped and children. We also set up more waiting rooms. "
The airports also encountered their busiest days in the year.
Jiangbei Airport in Chongqing saw a record of 50,000 passengers on Friday.
But airlines nationwide were prepared for the peak. Many increased ticket counters to save time for the travellers, and provided assistants to help those in need.
