Chinese Olympic champion Yang Yang being IOC member

Six new members were elected to the International Olympic Committee on the final day of the 122nd session on Friday.

Chinese Olympic speed skating champion Yang Yang among those selected to the committee.

The former short track speed skater becomes the fourth IOC member from the mainland.

Nicknamed the "Queen of short track", Yang became China's first ever Winter Olympic winner when she triumphed in the women's 500 m short track at the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic winter Games.
