Han Zheng, Shanghai Mayor, said, "The completion of the China Pavilion marks a breakthrough in pavilion construction at the World Expo. It also lays a solid foundation for a smooth World Expo."
Construction of the 63-meter high pavilion, known as the "Crown of the East", began in 2007.
The design features elements from traditional Chinese architecture.
The eye-catching square roof was fashioned from dougong, a type of bracket used more than two-thousand years ago.
The main structure will be used for an exhibition entitled Chinese Wisdom in Urban Development, showcasing the values of harmony, nature and spirit.
Below the main structure, there's a 45-thousand-square-meter joint pavilion featuring displays from local provinces, cities and regions.
