Communist Party of China officials have briefed the media about their latest talks with the Dalai Lama's private envoys.

Officials from the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee, said they met with the Dalai Lama's private representatives, Lodi Gyari and Kelsang Gyaltsen last week.

As in previous talks, opinions remained sharply divided as a result of different positions. But UFWD Executive Vice Minister, Zhu Weiqun, said the contact made some progress.
