Experts call for better solution on Afghanistan

2010-01-27 14:04 BJT

Officials have held a symposium in London, a day ahead of the International Conference on Afghanistan.

They discussed how the international community could better support Afghanistan but it raised more questions than answers.

Despite the millions of dollars spent every day on the Afghanistan issue, the country remains the second poorest in the world.

While some progress has been made in health and education, 40 percent of its population is unemployed, 17 percent earns less than a dollar a day, and children under 5 have the world's lowest survival rate.

The conclusion is, international support has been inefficient.
