Special Report: Strong Quake Hits Haiti |
China's medical team arrived in the Haitian capital Portau Prince, early Tuesday morning. The team consists of 40 medical staff, 4 riot squad members and a working group. Chinese citizens in Haiti will be evacuated on the same plane.
Ji Chunlei of vice captain says, "Seventy percent of our experts have been part of peacemaking missions, the Sichuan Earthquake rescue, or military exercises in the past. They have ample frontline experience. We will provide medical care to the seriously injured people, treat common diseases, and carry out a prevention and control plan against epidemics."
48 Chinese citizens and fifty members of the Chinese Search and Rescue Team, are expected to arrive at the Beijing Capital International Airport on Sunday.
