Iran: "Good news" for uranium enrichment

2010-01-25 14:06 BJT

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says his nation has made key progress in its nuclear technology development.

At Sunday's news conference in Tehran, Ahmadinejad said "good news" would soon be forthcoming about the production of 20-percent enriched uranium.

He says such scientific advancements will be an honor for the Islamic Republic, while also bringing happiness to all of the world's freedom seeking nations.

Iran has been locked in a standoff with the West over its nuclear program. The US and its allies suspect that the country is aiming to make weapons of mass destruction, a claim Tehran has repeatedly denied.
