China has honored its eight peacekeeping police officers, killed in last week's Haitian earthquake. Senior state and party leaders, officials, relatives and colleagues expressed their sorrow and condolences in a farewell ceremony.

Wednesday morning's funeral took place in Beijing's Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery, the capital's main resting place for revolutionary heroes and high-level officials.

President Hu Jintao, other state and party leaders, and officials attended the farewell ceremony. They stood in silent tribute, and bowed three times toward the coffins.
