Special Report: Strong Quake Hits Haiti |

With the help of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, some Chinese nationals working in Haiti are coming back to China, or being transferred to neighboring Dominican Republic.

Eleven Chinese employees working for ZTE Corporation are leaving Haiti by chartered plane on Saturday morning.

They had lost contact with China after the earthquake hit Haiti on Tuesday. After overcoming many difficulties, Chinese rescuers and peacekeepers managed to get in touch with them and escorted them to the airport. Most of the Chinese people working in Haiti will be helped to return to China.

But the eight Chinese peacekeepers are still buried under the debris. Chinese rescuers and the Chinese peacekeeping police working in Haiti are fully engaged in the rescue efforts. There are no reports yet of casualties among Chinese residents or employees in Haiti.
