US grand jury indicts Nigerian bombing suspect

As US President Barack Obama demands immediate changes to airline security, a grand jury has indicted the Nigerian bombing suspect, for trying to blow up a Detroit-bound air-liner on Christmas Day.

A grand jury in Michigan has indicted 23-year-old, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on six counts, including attempted murder of the 289 passengers and crew on board, and attempting to use weapons of mass destruction.

If convicted, the Nigerian man faces life in prison. During investigation, the 23-year-old claimed he had been trained in Yemen by Al-Qaida, who also gave him the explosives.
