Special Report: Failed Christmas day attack |

Yemen's President, Ali Andullah Saleh, has met with Saudi Arabia's Assistant Defense Aviation Minister, Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz. The leaders discussed joint cooperation, especially in the field of security.

The meeting comes amid concerns from the West and Saudi Arabia that al-Qaeda will take advantage of Yemen's instability to spread its operations to the neighboring kingdom. Saudi Arabia is the world's biggest oil exporter.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says Yemen's instability poses a global threat. She also pledged on Monday to plug any holes in US security procedures after a Christmas Day plane bombing attempt.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Sanaa remained closed for a second day in response to what officials say were al-Qaeda threats. Clinton added that a decision to reopen the US Embassy will be undertaken as conditions permit. Britain's embassy has also been closed since Sunday.
