HK residents optimistic about economy

A survey conducted by the University of Hong Kong reveals that the city's residents are showing more optimism towards the economy.

Among the 1,000 respondents, 42 percent were satisfied with Hong Kong's economy in the past year, 13 points higher than the previous year.

The survey also showed that 62 percent of respondents expected Hong Kong's economy to improve this year. 55 percent said they were confident that they will see better personal development in 2010.

The positive signs are the highest in more than 16 years. When it came to new year's wishes, 25 percent said they will banking on a better economy, 16 percent were concerned about their health, and 13 percent hoped that people's livelihood would become better.
