UN: Copenhagen conference a positive achievement

The UN Climate Talks in Denmark's capital Copenhagen ended four days ago, and the Copenhagen Accord, the outcome of the marathon negotiations, has finally surfaced.

The UN Secretary General says the final product is a key step on the right path.

Speaking at the UN headquarters in New York, Ban Ki-moon describes the near two-weeks of climate talks a success, and the final accord a positive achievement.

Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General, said, "It represents a beginning, an essential beginning. We have taken an important step in the right direction."

But Ban Ki-Moon says he is aware that the conference was troubled with various differences.

Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General, said, "I emphasized that we have come such a long way, and we did not have any time to lose. The leaders are united in purpose but not in action."
