The annual Macao charity walk has just raised 10 million patacas, about 1.3 million US dollars. The proceeds go to a public welfare fund organized by the Macao Daily Readers Group.

Some twenty thousand people took to streets this Sunday morning for a good cause. Now in its 26th year, this year's walk is particularly special because of the 10th anniversary of the SAR.

A lot of VIPs turned up, including former SAR Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah. This welfare fund was originally used for emergency aid, but now also targets the poor, students and the sick.
