Definitions of what it means to be a "good kid" vary in different cultures. Many Chinese schools focus on academic achievements. But as Liu Yue finds out, some schools in the UK are encouraging emotional development, too.

This is St. George's School near London.

Being a good student here involves more than achieving high grades.

Teachers at the school also act as mentors and friends to students.

Twice a day, students discuss their daily studies and difficulties with their tutors.

Assessment cards are used to evaluate each student's performance.

Paddy Storrie, Deputy Head, ST. George's School, London, said, "The assessment card in school."

School is about more than books. It's a chance to have fun, too.

Alex, Student, ST. George's School, London, said, "Basically, enjoy doing so."

Students' achievements depend on more than test results.

The school aims to make students feel proud of themselves, too.

Norman Hoare, Head Teacher of ST. George's School, London, said, "The achievement value themselves."

"Are you happy studying here?"

This is a common question students at St. George's school are asked.

For many of the teachers, parents and students, being happy is as important as achieving good grades.

Teachers and parents strongly support their happiness in the pursuit of being a "good kid".
