Afghans on UN staff pullout

2009-11-07 14:11 BJT

The UN has says it is temporarily relocating 600 of its international staff from Afghanistan following last week's deadly Taliban attack. It was the most direct targeting of its employees during decades of work in the country.

Though the UN insists it remains committed to Afghanistan, its actions show how much security has deteriorated in the country and raises questions about the future of its work.

In Kabul, residents are hoping UN staff will be able to come back as early as possible.
