Special Report: China-Africa Cooperation Forum |
Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, has arrived in Cairo for an official two-day visit. It's aimed at further enhancing the China-African strategic partnership. The Premier will deliver a keynote speech at the Cairo headquarters of the Arab League on Saturday afternoon. CCTV International will present a live broadcast of the speech at 7:30 pm, Beijing time.
The Chinese delegation arrived in Cairo on Friday afternoon.
Senior officials travelling with the Chinese Premier include Foreign Minister, Yang Jiechi, and Commerce Minister, Chen Deming.
Egyptian Prime Minister, Ahmed Nazef, greeted Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the airport. The two heads of government then reviewed the guards of honor. Wen Jiabao is scheduled to hold talks with Nazef and meet Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak. He will also meet Arab League chief, Amr Mussa.
Wen Jiabao told reporters that the theme of his speech at the Arab League headquarters will focus on respecting the diversity of civilizations. He will also specify China's policies on developing friendly ties with Arab countries and China's stance on important regional issues.
Wen Jiabao will also attend the opening ceremony of the 4th ministerial meeting of the Forum of the China-Africa Operationon Sunday in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
The eight measures unveiled at the forum's Beijing summit three years ago marked China's largest-ever assistance package plan to Africa. All the commitments in the plan will be implemented by the end of this year.
The Premier said he will review the experience over the past years with African leaders and work out new plan for the future.
This is Wen's second official visit to Egypt. The first was in 2006, which marked the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between China and Egypt.
