Special Report: UN climate change conference in Copenhagen |

US President Barack Obama and European leaders have agreed to redouble efforts to reach a climate deal in Copenhagen next month.

Obama spoke with European Union leaders at a White House summit on Tuesday, just weeks before the UN-led climate change conference.

The US President supports EU efforts to ratify a climate change treaty.

After the White House meeting, Obama spoke with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, EU Foreign Affairs chief Javier Solana, and Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt. They are optimistic that a deal is within reach.
