Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |

The A/H1N1 virus that has people on high alert right around the world including here in China. A total of 26-hundred new cases were confirmed on the mainland during the weekend. But experts assure the virus is still under control.

The A/H1N1 virus accounts for more than 70 percent of recent flu cases in China.

China's Ministry of Health says it has readjusted strategies. The department will focus on treating serious cases and preventing community infection.

A/H1N1 inoculations on the Chinese mainland have been going smoothly. Many provinces have begun vaccination of high-risk groups. The Ministry of Health estimates by the end of this year, 65 million people will have been vaccinated against A/H1N1.

But there is a warning from experts.

Children under age of three, people with egg allergies, heart diseases, pulmonary heart diseases, diabetes, or other diseases in their acute stage... have been advised against inoculation.

The A/H1N1 vaccine is not a panacea. It does not prevent the seasonal flu, meaning a separate inoculation is still necessary to step up the fight against the flu this winter.
