The DPRK has accepted South Korea's proposal, to hold talks on flood prevention and family reunions. Seoul agreed to Pyongyang's request to hold both meetings in Kaesong city.
South Korea's Unification Ministry has proposed a Wednesday meeting to discuss how to prevent flooding of the Imjin River.
Last month, the DPRK released a massive amount of water from a dam into the Imjin River without giving notice in advance. The resulting flood killed six South Koreans.
Seoul demanded an explanation for the abrupt opening of the floodgates. Pyongyang's response was that it was due to high water levels behind a dam.
South Korea has also proposed that their Red Cross societies meet on Friday at a DPRK mountain resort, to discuss continuing family reunions.
