Charities have delivered humanitarian aid to remote areas in the West Sumatran province of Indonesia.

The focus of work has now moved from searching for survivors to providing relief to villages cut off by last week's deadly earthquake.

British-based Save the Children took crucial items on trucks to some of the most inaccessible victims.

Mike Penrose, Spokesman, said, "What we've done is identify the immediate needs post-earthquake and, as you can see, we already have the most critical items coming in at the moment. And our target is to ensure that families, especially the children within those families, get the support they need in this very difficult time."

Goods such as personal hygiene kits, plastic sheeting and basic household items have been sent to Korong Sungai Pingai village north of Padang.

Across Indonesia, aid workers from at least 20 countries are now focusing on caring for the homeless.
