Zhejiang province lies on the eastern coast of China. It borders Jiangsu, Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian. The province has an area of about 100,000 square kilometers and a population of over 47 million.

The provincial capital is Hangzhou, which is regarded as one of the most scenic cities in China. Ningbo, Wenzhou, Taizhou and Zhoushan are important commercial ports in the coastal province.

Zhejiang is traditionally known as the "Land of Fish and Rice" and has a long history of agriculture and fishery.

The province is a leading producer of tea.

Nowadays Zhejiang is also well-known for its manufacturing, which is centered on electromechanical industries, textiles, chemical industries, food, and construction materials.

In recent years, Zhejiang has developed into one of the most marketized provinces in China, thanks to its own development model that is based on prioritizing and encouraging entrepreneurship.

GDP there in 2008 was 2.15 trillion yuan or 309 billion US dollars.
