Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is located in northern China. The capital is Hohhot.

The vast grasslands have always been symbolic of Inner Mongolia, emphasizing the nomadic traditions of the Mongol people.

Established in 1947, the region is the third-largest subdivision of China spanning about 12 percent of the country's land area.

It borders 7 provinces and an autonomous region from east to west, while to the north, it borders Mongolia and Russia.
