Ye Ting was born in Guangzhou Province and had a special attachment to Macao.
From 1927 to 1942, the Ye family lived in a house located at Rua Almirante Costa Cabral, no. 76. Seven of his nine children were born in the house. During his stay in Macao, he was very much devoted to the Sino-Japanese War and travelled frequently to Hong Kong and China.
He stayed in Macao until 1937 when he took up the post of army commander in the New Fourth Army.
