CCTV observation: China to ensure socialist legal system

Top legislator Wu Bangguo says the NPC will ensure the goal of formulating a socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics is achieved by the end of this year as scheduled.  He called it the NPC's "bounden duty" and "primary task" in a report on the work of the NPC Standing Committee delivered to lawmakers Tuesday. Wu Bangguo said the legislature would promptly formulate new laws, revise some existing ones, and make legislation more scientific and democratic.  The goal was set at the last CPC National Congress.
