Free drink in Taiwan's Tzunan Temple to celebrate New Year

The Tzunan Temple in celebrates the new year tradition by inviting people in for a free drink. 100-thousand kilograms of traditional rice wine are prepared for visitors who stroll in from near and far.

The traditional rice wine, which symbolizes peace, good fortune, and prosperity, pulled in millions of visitors from across the island.

People queued in lines to get a taste, and wish each other a happy new year. A temple staff of more than three hundred joined the party to ensure public safety and maintain order.

Drinking rice wine has been a tradition in Taiwan for around twenty years. It usually falls on the day following the Lantern Festival.
