Hong Kong Fashion Week gets underway

A dramatic display of dash and design opened Hong Kong Fashion Week, and its corresponding fair, on Monday night. Filled with vigor and vitality, the stylish spectacle has provided more evidence of an economic rebound in the Special Administrative Region, as the influence of the global financial crisis wanes.

Local designer Dorian Ho's collection, "Mirage," hit the catwalk first at Monday's fashion show, titled "Hong Kong, Luxuriance." Displaying an obvious influence from India and the Middle East, the models brought a spark of vitality to the chilly winter running rampant in most parts of China.

The event also displayed works by well-known Mainland couturiers Xie Feng and Guo Pei, as well as the latest collection from the designer of Japanese brand "Dress Camp," Toshikazu Iwaya.

Hong Kong's Fashion Week and Trade Fair will include 25 similar performances, along with an expo showcasing the productions of two-thousand exhibitors from China and abroad. It also bring together designers and buyers from across the globe.

Hong Kong Fashion Week is running for four days before wrapping up on Thursday.
